There are always "gotchas" with these tests. At least notebookcheck points it out:

I did realize that 480M is lot better with DX11 games especially in high resolution and detail. That made me believe the single 480M might be just as good or better than 5870 CF.

Could be. The only DX11 game I have is Metro 2033 and it looks slow with both the single 5870 and 5870XF.
