Acer Aspire 5732Z 5GHz Wireless 802.11n networking?

I have an Acer Aspire 5732Z notebook and notice that there are numerous wireless networks active around my home location.

For hassle free operation, I'm thinking of installing a 5GHz wireless N router to provide my domestic wireless network. I don't have any other wireless devices to worry about that may be limited to the 802.11b/g 2.4GHz specs.

Will the inbuilt wi-fi card (Acer Nplify 802.11b/g/n) in my notebook work with a 5GHz wireless network?

It should work but it (router/network) probably would negotiate down the signals.

be careful, acer likes to use an Atheros wireless N card for a lot of units that only does N at 2.4GHz, and not at 5GHz.

Thanks for your replies both qhn and MichelleG.

I've now done a hardware scan with PC Wizard 2010. It confirms that the inbuilt wireless adapter card is indeed an Atheros AR5B93, which it seems, is unlikely to be a dual band adapter.

I guess I'll just join the rest of the street on the crowded 2.4GHz band and let the router negotiate with neighbouring networks to find a suitable channel to operate on .

2.4Ghz is not so bad if you get clear signals

yeah, I use 2.4GHz for my wireless N, including 40MHz channel bonding. might irritate the neighbors wifi, but oh well. I need my internets.
