My17x and the WIFI

Hello
I am hoping that someone can shine some light on this for me
I was using the notebook yesterday with no problem, on line doing some web designs and everything worked fine.
Today I went to get online and my WiFI indicator has red X on it

and no matter what I do I cant get it to work
I have reinstalled the Broadcom drivers, reinstalled the chipset drivers, checked under services to make sure that nothing is turned off by accident, and I can not find anything unnormal
If anyone could suggest anything that would be great
I am running Win7 64bit with 8 gig of ram etc

I will say this, couple of times I got it to come up, where you see the yellow star on it, and it did see the network, but when I tried to connect to it, it told me that it could not make the connection at this time, or something close to it.

I know the wifi works, I am on my other notebook as I am typing this, and there are no issues with it

Please, any suggestions will be welcome

Thank you
Mark

P.S. I noticed that if I connect a regular Cat5 into it, the WIFI comes to life as well, and it connects
The moment I disconnect the cable the wifi stops working.

This is a known (old) issue, from what I remember you had to go into device manager and into the properties of your wired nic, not the wifi card and disable any kind of power saving mode.

Also, make sure that the wi-fi catcher switch on the computer is on, otherwise, the wireless nic will show active but still won't pick anything up.

Yes, seen that happening.
