L355D-S7815 Boots to BIOS Disp, then blanks & beeps

As the subject says, I have a L355D-7815. Two years old, mobo was replaced at one year anniversary, and now that mobo is a year old again. (gulp).

It boots to the H20 BIOS screen, but then it blanks the screen (blinking flat cursor in upper left corner) and starts a rapid beep series that never stops. I can power off by holding the power button. I tried removing the (2) memory chips and booting with one or the other but no help. I also put it in the freezer for about 15 mins to cool it down and then booted but it was no help. I can press F2 when I see the BIOS screen, but it never goes to the BIOS, it just does the blink and beep.

FWIW- it was up and working fine when it started inputing a series of gibberish and then "B" characters in any program that would allow typing. I thought it was a software issue, but a reboot got me to where I am now.

Any ideas on what I can try to get it to boot? Is it the mobo again? Keyboard?
Thanks,
Bob

I posted just a bit before you with somewhat the same issue, also with a L355, also just turned 1 year old. I'll be keeping an eye on this post. Hopefully someone can help us out.

Remove the keyboard, plug in an external keyboard and see. Hopefully that it was the issue, likely it is the motherboard that is failing.

cheers ...

Any pointers to instructions on opening it up and removing the keyboard? Will it pick up on a USB keyboard if it's there? Thanks,

(I'm leaning away from it being the keyboard... but then again, it's actually the only component that was not replaced at the one year service... LCD, mobo, touch pab, fans, were all replaced).

I would say the motherboard is shot... But strip the motherboard out, clean it up and check it for any defects, ie blown components, esp round the keyboard and chipset area...

Thanks... could still use a pointer to disassembly instructions...

I believe there is a sticky that has links to the disassembly instructions. If not, just google toshiba satellite disassembly. There is one really great link that has pics and all.

Have fun tinkering if you only have 4-6 screws when putting everything back together you have it made

LOL... Tip is to mark the ones with a pen that directly hold the motherboard in - at least you get all of them....

What I found that works is to print the blown up pics of all the steps you need where screws are removed and as you work your way thru, tape the removed screws to the pic in question..when re-assembling, its just a matter of working your way back thru the pics with screws

Good idea. In my younger days I could pull apart an entire engine and put it all back together without difficulty... now everything gets photographed and put in a labeled bag!

I think I will go with your idea.

I think it's only four screws, if you're only removing the keyboard. Pop off the trim strip at the top of the keyboard with a slotted screwdriver, and the screws should be right there.
