bios problems with m5700i-R2---please help!

Ok so this is what happened...as a prank my old college roommate had created a bios password on my computer to lock me out. he eventually told me what it was and i just decided to change it instead of taking it off...Well when I eventually got sick of typing it in all the time I decided to take the bios password off. Well my computer would not allow me to take the password off but would only allow me to change the bios password. SO, for my NEW password I just hit the ENTER key so all I would have to do was hit the enter key when it asked for my password when I turned my computer all...well that was not the case. When I restarted the computer I tried just hitting ENTER and it did not work. Tried the old password, did not work. Now two years later I'm still stuck with this $2,500 laptop that I cannot use. And I even called alienware and those assholes were absolutely NO HELP what so ever...So can anyone PLEASE help me with this??? I tried looking all over the net. Ive taken that little battery out on the inside of the computer and that did not work. I took the main battery out for like two weeks (as the only think alienware told me to try) and nothing worked. SO PLEASE HELP!! Im getting desperate here!!

Sorry but I failed to see why Alienware chose not to help you if this is your own notebook. Minimum you should be able to send it back and have them reset the BIOS password, with a small fee of course.

Give them a call again, escalate it. Good luck,

cheers ...

With the batteries out did you push the power button for 10 seconds?

My warrenty had expired a few months before this had happened. So aside from unplugging my battery they said I could send it in to them and they could fix it, BUT they charge $100 an hour and they automatically charge you for 2 hours, regardless of what the problem is and if it could be fixed in 10 minutes. And on top of that I had to pay shipping and handling both ways. So it would have cost me around $300 to get it fixed.

I just took both batteries out and held down the power button for more than 10 seconds. But it still pops up. Some other screen popped up really quickly and the computer made a beeping sound, but then it went right to the bios password. So now Im going to let the computer sit with both of the batteries out overnight and see if maybe that resets it.
