Studio 1558 Slot Load Drive Problem

Hello all,

The slot load drive on my Studio isn't accepting discs. It also makes a continuous noise whenever the laptop is running. This started yesterday after I ejected a disc. There wasn't any problem while the disc was inside the drive, and it ejected normally. I've tried with multiple discs, but it's of no use. Is there a way to fix this, or does the drive have to be replaced? Appreciate any help.

You can try to flash a new firmware on the drive, it may help.

Search the drive model number on dells site.

But most likely you will need a new drive.

Sounded like the drive is failing. I would take it out and tap it gently on a hard surface and reseat it as well
