hello all
this is my first time on the forum and im hoping you guys can help me get this going..its my buddys laptop that i reloaded since he got a big virus and could not get it removed. i got everything reloaded but naturally he lost all discs that came with the damn thing so i dug up my vista home premium disc since thats what he had. i got everything reinstalled and everything works but the darn wireless card i tried using all three wireless drivers they show on the acer website for this laptop and none of them worked so after many hours i found out that if you click show all then it showed and extra one for the broadcom so i installed it and then under device manager it started showing that the wireless card was under network adapters so i tried hooking up wiress and its like i dont have a wireless card install, also my red light underneath the wireless button is flashing red and i can turn it on and off with the button but it doesnt enable or disable it just shuts the light off. so i got my dell laptop out and put it next to this acer and my laptop found my wireless with full signal strenght and was surfin the net. the wired connections works wonderfully tho. anyhow i went to network and sharing center and clicked on manage network connections and it shows the broadcom wireless network connection but it wont enable it says its enabling then its enabled but below it still shows disabled so i clicked on the dignose deal and it says the device is experience hardware/driver problems but its the only darn driver i can find that evens recognizes the wireless card... he needs his wireless fixed by monday since hes startin college back up and he takes it to school with him to use for notes and pull items off the teachers server that he uploads...thanks in advance for the help and sorry about the long post but figured it was best just to tell ya what ived done already

You need to install the acer drivers relating to the hotkeys ie launch manager from here:

ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/noteboo...vista/Drivers/

Have had this issue with a DELL and it turned out the driver was incorrect form some reason...

Another thing to do, is boot the driver out of device manager and run the 'scan for hardware changes' button at the top, then do a windows update (use a wired connection)...

Try removing all wireless drivers. Remove the wireless card from the notebook. Restart the system. Turn it off, re-install the card and be ready to use the broadcom driver .

Put a copy of Avast free(you just have to register it...and every 14 months thereafter)(they send a warning when the registration is due and just have to follow the links to re-register) on there....it dont cost anything, its small, it works and it doesnt mess with anything...the program you ran was probably called Aida32..

i put kaspersky internet suit on it its got a really good virus deal with a bunch of security stuff the only thing is you install it after you get all your hardware loaded otherwise it senses the network settings and locks everything else out so that it dont get attacked install it after all hardware and you wont have an issue....its the only program that got my dads computer/network cleaned up after my brother braught home an external hdd with a nasty virus on it that one of his fellow soldiers had put on it.....just goes to show never loan your computer equipment to anyone cuz they will mess it up happens everytime.......
thanks for all the help guys glad to have that piece of junk out of my house
