Asus W3J won't boot past Asus logo

Thread Starter
I have not made any changes to my W3J recently. Today when I turned on the machine, it showed the Asus logo and then went to a blue screen. It does not load Windows and the hard drive does not seem to be active. Pressing F8 at startup does nothing, and I can't reboot to the shipping configuration (I think F9?). When I press F2 or F4 (not sure which is doing it)at startup, I don't see any error messages and don't see any options that would seem to be a problem.

Any suggestions on the best way to troubleshoot this?

Thanks!

Can you boot up with an installation disk?

cheers ...

It sounds to me like your hard drive has a corrupted master boot record or file system or it's physically dying or dead. I'd try Q's suggestion of booting with the Windows or System Recovery disc and going into the recovery console to run chkdsk, fixboot and/or fixmbr.
