Hi there everyone,

I need you help guys. I've a Clevo D900t from rock. I love this machine but I am getting lots of problems in it. Luckly main problem was with my mother board which I got it replaced from Rock in warrenty period. But here is the starnge part.... Before sening to Rock my Graphic card was NV 6800 256 MB but when I got my laptop back what I notice my card was chnages to 7900 GT with 512MB. So offcourse I was very happy but here what I am not happy with since I got the laptop back my graphic card heatsink fan is not working. Its not trunning on when it should be by itself and result of that my card start cooking which result to shutdown. Now when i got the laptop bnack my warrenty was finished and after contacting Rock asking for the part they said they dont have them anymore STRANGE.

To solve or say to check the problem I open the graphic card cover and pushed the fan and Vola its running but only till I shutdown the laptop. Now on every start I have to push the fan and leave the GPU cover open.

Any solution for this guys. Did anyone else face this problem? any help will be appereciated guys. I lov this laptop and want to use it but its making it hard to use.

Do I have to update the BIOS? If yes then how?
Do I have to chnage the motherboard?

I got the new heatsink from ebay but still same thing.

Help me here please. get my machine to back its health........

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your reply. Fan sounds ok as I got the new from ebay but still same problem. In both old and new Heatsinks if I push the fan it runs fine till I take the power cord out after shutting down the computer.

Rock - Is the Brand from I bought the laptop (Rockdireck.com)

Please advice further.......

BIOS update is a good try. Check out Clevo Site or contacting Rock for support on this. Once you have the file it should be a simple matter of running it, with power cord "in"

Hi qhn,

thanks for your reply. I did try the bios update but when I start it it is showing error (Expanded Memory Manager (EMM) detected).

What should I do in this?

How did you perform the BIOS update? Via a MS-DOS diskette?

We need to find a BIOS that you can update via a (clean) MS-DOS boot diskette, that error pertains to an EMM being called from the update script.

Hi qhn,

Thanks for the link. I did flash Bios went well but no good for fan its still same I opend up full back and clean CPU heatsink, GPU heatsink, re applied thermal paste but no good I was so fed up that what i did is to close the heatsink cover and break few bars from its cover so everytime when I start laptop I can puch the fan manualy to run .

If anyone can show me a way to sort this i will pray for that person for every good.

Hi qhn,

Could I ask you one more thing Where is the jumper on motherboard which can change raid to ata? I dont want to use raid and was thinking to chnage the jumper from motherboard. I have tried switching it from bios but no good and cumputer still looking for raid drivers when insatll windows. I was thinking to install Mac on my laptop and mac do not have raid drivers for Promise fasttreck 378.

Let me know may be I am wrong and I cant do that on MB at all.

I am not sure about jumper on notebook motherboard when working with RAID. It is usually in the BIOS/Chipset and driver.

You can try install Mac on your notebook if you want, but we have a Non-discussion of OS-X on non-Apple machines rule here at NBF (sorry)

Hello Xtreme,

There isnt a jumper on the motherboard for this feature. You have to switch it in the BIOS from Raid to ATA. However, during the windows installation you will always need to install the nonraid drivers by pressing F6 at the beginning of the windows installation in order for windows to see the hard drives.

You can download the Promise NONRaid controller drivers from here.
It will still work. Give it a try.
