Hi peeps,

Ive got a few questions so please bare with me.

1. Whats the minimum spec of an Alienware i can get if i wanted to upgrade the cpu to 920x later on?

2. does the crossfire 5870 make a vast amount of difference than the single 5870?

3. Alienware is very expensive and just wanted to know what people think of the Asus laptop in comparison

4. whats the best spec price vs performance that most peeps would go for on both systems

Cheers

1. You can have your choice of several I core processors when you build the unit, and upgrade to the 920 or I believe even the new 940 CPU. (with the lastest BIOS)

Of course you probably should hang onto the original CPU in case you have issues with the lasptop later.

2. CF will add about 30-40 % more GPU power, but also comes with a few issues, such as Dell only Drivers.

3. Most will probably say the AW is a better built laptop, and looks better. Dells warranty is better was well.

4. Not much to offer in terms of Asus, but I always suggest build with min specs and upgrade the Memory, Hard Drive, and CPU yourself.

I would always get the best GPU< and Display possible (and in the case of the M17x get the RGB LED display) and get the 3-4 year warranty to cover it.

Items you upgrade will not be coveredf by Dell or Asus. and Asus may not cover you period of you do any upgrades.

just my 0.02 Cents

Crossfire does NOT make a "vast" amount of difference... if you're referring to gaming. We're talkin a few more FPS... IMO not worth the money until the cards come down in value.

3) Although the Alienware is of better build, ASUS G73JH can deliver a solid gaming experience without costing an arm and a leg

cheers ...

Thanks guys

Still just as confused but hey thats just me

Im leaning towards getting a low spec AW with an i7 cpu and 5870 xf gpu and then upgrade the cpu in my own time

wheres the best [place to get one apart from Dell with their extreme prices - i noticed that there are no AW in the dell outlets...;-(
