Monitor kept flickering, now it just goes to power saving mode

I have a Dell Dimension 4600. I have the monitor plugged into the video card. Yesterday when I turned the computer on the monitor would always flicker. every 5-10 seconds.

Now today, when I turn the computer on it will start up normal and then once it hits the windows XP logo. the Monitor will say entering power saving mode. the computer tower still lights up green, the cd rom will come out if i hit the button. So it seems the computer is still on.

I brought a working monitor and plugged it into the computer using all new cords, and still has the same problems.


Any help?

Make any differences if you try to wiggle the cable end where it goes on the output port? Do it gently.

Also boot up in safe mode and see what happens
