Gateway 4530GZ won't detect wireless networks

I've got a Gateway 4530GZ that I recently replaced the mother board in. (I believe the previous motherboard warped and would only power on randomly)
Before I replaced the mother board I noticed it would not pick up any wifi networks but I figured it had something to do with the motherboard. Post motherboard replacement it still will not pick up wifi networks. I have tried a different mini PCI card (known working) and installed the drivers and it too would not pick up wireless networks.
Any ideas?

Thanks in adv.

According to this, it was a factory installed option...Are you absolutely sure it came with the laptop....It may not have, consequently, it wont have an antenna

I bought the laptop brand new. The card came with the laptop.

It worked fine until the motherboard went out, then for some reason at the same time the wireless card went out.

Check the antenna connections? Are they connected correctly? Are the antenna still intact?

cheers ...

My current theory is that the connectors are bad or there is something wrong with the antenna I just don't know how to test for either of those. I am going to try and find a magnifying glass and needle nose pliers tonight and try to increase the contact on the connectors.

Swap them around as well. And trace the antenna to be sure that they don't get cringed somewhere along the way.

cheers ...
