Acer Aspire 1652 WLMi

Hi!

I have a problem with my Aspire that is giving me constant random lockups/freezes/shut downs.
My system usually freezes in about 2-8 minutes after turning it on, and doing some internet surfing.

- temps are around 45-55 celcius according to Mobilemeter, so thats ok?
- I have few extra 512 RAM sticks, but changing those make no difference
- Harddrive works well on another laptop
- Processor cooling seems to running just fine

What next?
Could my motherboard be broken?
BIOS messed up?
What might be causing this?
I'm all out of clues?
Please, help this one sorry lonely rider

Review your start-up processes? Disable some un-needed services. Check virus software, defrag .... Re-installation maybe?

When was the last time you took it apart and clean it up, applying new thermal paste?

cheers ...

Thank you for giving some options, but my issues still remain..

I have already done: clean install with drivers from Acer website, total clean up & new thermal paste.

I have noticed that my system will run fine , when I downclock my cpu with Acer ePowerManagement software. Temps might be as high as working when "fully clocked", but my system is working this way nicely. But I want to use my system at full speed, not at 50%..

Any hints? Temps are probably not causing these hangs and freezes, what might be doing that?

How about running it in Safe Mode? Would the freezing occur then?

cheers ...

I would follow qhn's advice with the strip down and clean, esp the heatsink and fan, clean all the dust out of that...
