Hi. Can you help me out with this choice? Are HP keyboards and buttons really that stuff? Is something else better for business purposes?

I have this memory installed in my Inspiron 14R. 6gb (one 2gb & one 4gb). Great performance! I highly recommend Kingston.

Well what can I say, I needed that little bit of extra storage that as a family we could all use. After searching around I narrowed it down to three suppliers, not the cheapest, but all well...

I purchased this Nook Color specifically because I was taking a very long trip to China and wanted to be able to read without carrying a ton of books. I also liked that it had email capability...

This is an awesome mouse with an excellent grip for a mid sized to large size hand. Right-handed, comfortable, trendy, upscale, red, responsive, functional, task oriented. Overall A+++

This is great ram (so far so good). Very fast and efficient Ram. Good for overclocking my Sager np8150

I had an nc8000. GREAT keyboard. The buttons weren't stiff. The size of the touchpad was a little small. The only issue I had with the entire laptop was a faulty vid card. Overall this is one of the best laptops avaible. With dual batts you can get 8 to 10 hours of run time. I cannot comment on the nc6000, but I have heard it is built just as solidy only it is a smaller, lighter and less powerful package overall. Both would be great choices, albeit quite expensive choices.

nc6000
+ light weight
- no firewire
- typically 14.1" XGA
- less powerful MR 9600 (about 2000 3dmark03 with 64 MB)
nc8000
+ Typical ones have 15" SXGA+
+ has firewire
+ more powerful MR 9600 (about 2500 3dmark03 with 64 MB)
- heavier
First, look at the XGA vs. SXGA+ issue. I wouldn't go XGA anymore these days. Thus, I'd pick nc8000 for a desktop replacement and nc6000 only if you need to move the lappy a lot (e.g. business presentations).

How do both of these HP/Compaq systems compare to the IBM's??
Specifically, I was looking at the T41p with 128MB FireGL in the 14.1". There is an R series with FireGL in a 15" but it, again, is a different series.
Are these better, worse than IBM, and in what ways? (other than being thicker).

Here it goes:
T41p
+ 14.1" SXGA+
+ 128 MB fire gl t2
+ 60 GB 7200 RPM hard disk (HPs have 5400 rpm disks)
+ Light weight
- expensive!
- may have worse speakers than in the HP nc-series (or so I'm told, haven't compared really)
- no firewire (some models may have it, not sure)
T41p is a great machine but pretty expensive.

Well, if I was going for the nc8000 it would be with the ATI 9600 with 128MB, so that would basically be the same as the 128MB FireGL?? HP did have the 60GB 7200's last week, I guess they are out.
Understand about the IBM not having Firewire.
Which is the best of this bunch??

Did I read it in another thread that your nc6000 broke???
If so, what notebook are you buying???
How would you compare the nc6000 to the T41p?? (other than the T41p being thinner)??? Not so much the features (which I am quite familiar with) just the overall comparison. Which screen did you get on the nc6000??
Thanks,
Andrew
