How many hard drive bays does my 8930G have?

I have:
Acer Aspire 8930G - 664G50BN

Got it from play.com a few weeks ago for around £600. It has 500GB of storage, I was wondering if that was 2x 250GB drives or just the one 500GB. I'm hoping the latter as I want to add a 1tb drive to that too. Was also thinking of upgrading the processor to either a T9900 or a Q9000, as the T6600 is the only thing bottlenecking this machine.

Which processor should I get, and how many HDD bays does my model have?

Cheers!

From a Google search, it looks like your computer has 2 hard drive bays, so it could be set up either way. The best way to find out (if you're using Windows) is to go into Device Manager and look to see if you have one or two listings under Disk Drives.

As to which CPU to get, it depends on the programs you use. If you will be using programs coded for multicore processors, then the Q9000 would be more powerful. However, there are still a lot of programs out there that are not coded for multicore CPUs, and if you're using more of those type of programs, then I would recommend the T9900.

Read this - theacerguy.com .... I don't thing a quad core will work...

If you wanted to upgrade the CPU, why didn't you get an i5 based laptop, you pay more, but get a much faster machine..

Looking at the Service manual from the stickies above this thread, this machine only has the one HDD and one bay...page 56 shows the disassembly instructions

Thats for the 8930Q.. The 8935G-664G50BN has two slots for hard drives...

If you want a better performance out of the laptop, replace the hard drives with 7200rpm ones....

Check this review....

I go for this all the time

T6600 is not so bad of a CPU at 2Ghz performance, go for faster drive and max out ram would be the best bet (and economical).

cheers ...

RAM is at maximum apparently (4GB)

Should be plenty with 4GB. One hardly ever uses all of them on notebooks.

cheers ...

Does anybody know how I can find out what model motherboard this has?
MB.ASZ0B.004 is the one I'm hoping for, as it supports the Q9000. I lost the bid for the X9100 =[
