Mini PCI Express is a standard connector, so any model should work.

Unfortunately, I don't know enough about how SIM cards work for that.

GPS would work but I doubt that you can use this card in a way a mobile phone works (voice and audio) - mini PCIe signals constraint.

Sim card slot on notebooks/netbooks/tablet PC is specific to the software and the notebook brands. Even Globetrotter would not recognizes the "sim" slot on the card in question.

It May not work. I Have this exact machine and came across this forum and after all the help ive had with my 1730, I found something i can contribute. This particular machine (I Cant speak for the other HP's) Will only accept "HP" Approved hardware as far as the WiFi card is concerned. They Block it in the BIOS and refuse to allow third party cards. I would assume the WWAN Card would be the same way. There is a Hardware ID String that it appears to check, and if it does not contain the particular string, it will refuse to boot and activate the hardware, giving the error that it is not a supported HP Model Card. HP Support Confirmed this.

Stupid. I know. I kind of expect better from manufacturers today. It's a way to get license fees i beleive. They have been at it since around 2005, apparently, after some checking.

I would have expected something from Overlord Job's like this, but HP ? Really ?

(For the record I am not saying anything bad about apple products, only the totalitarian way they attempt to stronghold everything. Kinda interesting how they talk about the monopoly of microsoft, and if i remember correctly, assisted in some of the early attacks on the Windows OS by saying they were creating a monopoly. Then got bit in the behind over a similar ruling lately where they tried to make apps on an iphone made by third party sources that are not apple "approved" and jailbreaking a copyright violation. They lost. Its legal. Haxx your iPhone.)
