This happens when the computer has been used out of the docking and then either is put directly in or has been in sleep or hibernation in the meantime. I connect it, and the display ports work, and so does the LAN port (I think...). But the USB ports do not work, so I have to reboot the computer before they are recognized. A search for hardware changes doesn't help.
It doesn't happen more than maybe one in five or ten times, and it happens with three identical dockings, so it's not a hardware problem in the docking stations. I don't think it's a hardware problem in the computer either since the USB ports are recognized at once after reboot. I can use the USB keyboard to go into the BIOS. I use 64 bits Windows 7 Ultimate, if it matters.
