what do you guys recommend? i have seen the x1800, hd4650 or whatever. I will not really do any gaming, just videos and all for my online classes. I would like to be able to watch movies with nice resolution.

The Go7600 should be plenty for what you are doing (watching movies with nice resolution) - media players are the ones you can try choosing for this task. But if you are keen for the upgrade I would try to find a 7950

ok. ya it just seems like alot of the newer cards are cheaper than the 7600 and with better specs.

I don't want to damper your enthusiasm. Go give the better cheaper card a shot. Look at it as a small investment for a (learning) trial.

My personal take is that the old AW in general were not made to work well with anything other than nVidia cards. Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of ATI GPUs.

How much do you want for your old 7600 if you do upgrade? If it will run in my 51m 7700 it would be at least a step up from my current 6800. my problem is any mobile video card seems to run about $400 new and I can't just materialize that money from the ether.

Does it have an aluminum shell around the video card? Removing it off my 6800 ran at a lower temperature. I forget the exact numbers but it was pretty significant.
