HP Mini 311 Recovery Problem

Hi all. First post! Here's the situation: I have an HP Mini 311 netbook that I installed win 7 pro on (it came with win 7 home premium). I did not nuke the recovery partition, but am looking to restore it back to original win 7 hp. I have tried some of the HP utilities to no avail. F11 will not work to access the partition. I can see all the files there (after un hiding them) and there is a base.wim file in there that is 9.3gb, so what can I do? Am I hooped, or is there an option?

Do you have drive encryption enabled? If yes, disable it first then try again.

Steps here:
"To resolve this issue, unencrypt the hard disk drive and then perform F11 system restoration. To unencrypt the hard disk drive, complete the following steps.

1. Log in to Microsoft Windows and open the HP ProtectTools application.
2. Select Administration and then expand the Drive Encryption menu.
3. Select Encryption Management .
4. Select the hard disk drive (C and select Change Encryption .
5. The unencryption process will begin and may take several hours to complete.
6. After the unencryption process is complete, restart the notebook.
7. When prompted, tap F11 to perform the system restore."

Protect Tools

Thanks for the quick reply! The only problem is I do not have the protect tools. My model is a mini 311-1033CA and I have reloaded the system with a regular load of windows 7 (no hp software loaded) - any suggestions?

It's gonna be tough unless you can find the original disks. Sorry. At this stage I can only suggest reloading Vista anew and update the comp with drivers and apps from HP support site itself.
