That's not a notebook... unless you take notes inside the Encyclopedia Britannica!

And would someone explain the reasoning behind a small 17" 3D screen? The size ruins the effect. lol
post #3 of 19
The weight is only 11lbs? I'm surprised at that considering the firepower crammed inside. I bet it will heat your home in the dead of winter too.

Anyone venturing to take a guess as what it would cost - minus the 3D screen?

As a video freelancer I have a very portable office, and I found that a portable desktop fits well into my space.
Going form a 2.33 17" macbook pro to a D900f 980x, the D900f seems it has 1/3 the portability of the mac. It took a bit to get used to it and I occasionally still just grab the mac for light work and notes (I probably need an iPad for most of that). The D900f's performance however is x10 to x20 compared to the mac with the benefit of being able to easily multi-task. My current AE project that took a little over 1 hour on the mac was finished in about 6min on the D900F while I was editing in premiere. That is a really great thing and negates all the power/portability inconveniences.
Mine cost 3k with parts from various places. The new video memory options can more than double the total cost. A new top of line macbook pro would have cost same. A Dell precision notebook costs the same or more but in the end, in my books, they don't have much to show against D900F.
