Acer Travelmate 5520 HELP!!!!

Recently purchased without hard drive. Fitted new hard drive but not recognised in the BIOS. Vista setup asks for drivers to enable SATA hard drive but not able to download from acer site as they do not exist. Acer are making money from customers by withholding the drivers. Acer wants £50.00 for a set of recovery disks and I find that the price if I was in America is $30.00. As I am retired I cannot afford the ludicrous amount required by acer. Are the disks compatble with all Acer Travelmate 5520 and if so Is there any kind person who can sell me a set of recovery disks for a reasonable sum of money.

Thanks in advance.

yeah.... Acer isn't withholding anything. Check your drive, if the bios does not recognize it that is your problem. try a smaller drive, might be a size limitation.

if it is still not recognized then it could be a bad mainboard.

Have tried 6 HDDrives but no go, still not seen in bios. All 6 drives detected in other Acer laptop, and Desktop PC?. Maybe it is down to motherboard problem.
Thanks for your input. Would still like the Recovery disks if available.

and that was why it was probably sold, an issue with the drive connection... Try a live CD like Ubuntu and see what happens...
