M17x BLU-RAY Burner Writer - not working ???

The Cd rom drive died on my m17x. So i decided to upgrade to the Blue-Ray burner writer (Panasonic UJ235A WT902).


I installed the new drive with no prob, and then went to the DELL site to get the driver (R234886). The driver installer said installation was successful.


But when I load a disc in, the drive just instantly ejects the disc back out...



When I check the drives status in the device manager it says that the drive is working properly (Ummm, its not).



Did I miss a step, or might my BLUE RAY drive be defective ???

it looks like the drive maybe defective

You seemed to have done all the steps, the driver is for blu ray playback

did you try regular DVDs as well as Blu rays ?

Does the proper model number show up in the device manager ?

You may want to check for a firmware update as well

Try downloading the firmware from the dell.com website. Run the app and try it again. This may fix it. If it doesn't, its a bad drive.
