Inspiron E1705 audio issues

So I've got system audio but no music capabilities. In the device manager I've got a IDT High Definition Audio Codec that has a message of "This device cannot start (Code 10)" I've uninstalled the device and reinstalled and loaded the latest drivers. I'm assuming since this is a MoBo device my only option would be to replace the MoBo. Anyone have any input?

When did this start? Tried also removing that IDT Audio device and let the system re-install it?

no, but if i do, which would be a pain in my but, it will be later next week. was hoping someone may have another option. since my h/d crashed and i installed the new one i didnt set up the mediadirect stuff and thought that may be the problem. though iirc it worked fine after i did the install of the os. something has happened along the way. i'm thinking i'm going to upgrade to vista but not sure i want to. my pc is on vista but meh.

Sp2? SP3? If SP2 did you install MS KB888111 for Audio High Definition Bus before installing the audio driver?

SP3 Installed IIRC the audio quit working when I upgraded to SP3, I think i'm going to install vista. I hope I have enough hardware to run it. I do have the min requirements :/

Ok installed some random drivers i hadnt tried before from dell website and it seams fine now. Thanks to my friendly IT pro that happened by the office
