M55-S329 Memory Upgrade

I currently have 1.5 gb of memory installed, on my M55-S329 laptop. 512mb was installed by toshiba on the board. I read that it can be increased from 512mb to 1gb, BUT according to what i read on the "internet" is has to be installed by a toshiba tech. My question is, can i do this myself, and if i can how to do it. ??
Regards, BD

Sure, you can do it yourself. We have the stickies here in the section to guide you in accessing and changing the ram modules.

Go here
http://www.crucial.com/

Use the dropdowns to find your machine...ie Toshiba, Satellite, M series, M55...According to crucial, your machine will handle 2 GBs..if that is your machine (satellite)...There is also a video to the right side of how to remove and install memory...there is an access panel to memory module/modules on the bottom...

Just so were clear on this. I added 1gb of memory before, but there is 512 of memory on the MB that i cannot see, it;s somewhere under the other 1gb that i installed. Search of the "internet" says to have a toshiba tech replace it, I don't want to break the laptop down to parade rest if i don't have too. IF there is a Sticky that shows me how to do that, i couldn't find, actually i couldn't find any sticky's just guides. Thanks, Regards BD

The reason you cannot see the other RAM module because it is situated under the keyboard.

Sticky!

It should be a disassembly guide for your M55 model, follow it to remove the keyboard to get access to the other ram module.

Currently have a 100gb ATA/IDE hard drive in my Toshiba M55-S329. Was looking to upgrade to a Seagate Momentus XT ST93205620AS 320GB 7200 RPM 2.5" SATA drive when i realized it's not compatible. Any suggestions for a hard drive replacement, of about 320gb. ??? Regards, BD

Can't (safely) go more than a 120GB IDE drive in your case.

Should have really started your own thread for your particular problem..Creates confusion when trying to reply to the original poster and sometimes things gets screwed up with two diffrent questions by two different posters
