Wifi connexion problem in Win 7 64 bits

Hi,

Upgraded two HP 2730p tablet PC from xp to Win 7 64 bits, i.e clean install.

File sharing on hard-wired local network and internet access through router are working fine.

However, can't get any wireless connection which I use on the road and at home.

1) Wireless network capability doesn't show in HP Wireless Assistant (on the other hand Bluetooth capability does show)
2) Wireless network adapter is not listed in ipconfig list

On one of the two laptops network card is not listed either in
3) Control Panel Devices Manager
4) HP Bios System Details

On the laptop which has a network card listed in the Control Panel Devices Manager (3 above), message says device is working properly and identifies it as Broadcom 4322AG. But the connection remains non existent.

Installed Driver is Broadcom 50.60.350.11 dating from Aug, 5, 2010. Also tried the previous version, both taken from HP support site for the specific laptop.

Windows services list shows Broadcom Wireless Lan Tray Service and WLan Autoconfig as started automatically.

Tried to get Windows 7 to troubleshoot the network. After 15 minutes, nothing had happened.

Is there another way to examine and troubleshoot all the parameters of a wifi network connection?

Have two books of respectively 500 and 800 pages on Win7 but neither cover this aspect in detail so I'd be very grateful for your guidance on solving this problem.

You might try disabling the Wireless Managers from the device manufacturers and let Windows handle the Wireless Connection on its own. Try also Windows Update and see if it can pick up some other drivers from its database.

cheers ...

That is the first place to start with wifi showing but not connecting... Windows own wireless setup is the way to go - uninstall any other piece of wireless management software...

On the laptop were wifi is not listed in the BIOS, the card may need to be physically reseated or replaced until it shows in the BIOS - bear in mind HP ties wifi cards to specific BIOS's, change the card and the laptop will not get past the BIOS screen...

Also, ensure you have any hot key software installed... This can control either the switch to switch wifi on or off or the keystroke (Fn + whatever) to switch wifi on or off...

And, ensure ACPI is working ok, ie does a)the laptops switch on and off ok, b) do all hotkeys work c) does the battery charge and discharge ok and d) does the CPU speed throttle up and down with the CPU/GPU fan kicking in when required?
