AW M5500i-R3 video card upgrade issue

I tried to do a ton of reading about the MXM upgrades available for the M5500i-R3 model. I decided on a 3650 512MB since it seemed like the best option and I saw some success posts.

Everything appeared to go fine, but my laptop will not power on with the new card installed, period. If I put my old x1400 in, boom fires right up. I tried both the 2.06 and 2.07 Bios with no change. I'm running 2GB RAM, T7200, 250GB HDD. I think there are two versions of the MXM 3650, a red PCB and a green one? Mine is green. No known defects with the card, purchased as an OEM system pull 100% working. Does anyone have any insight? Thank you.

The m5550 doesn't support the ati 3650. Where did you see these success posts??

You do know that there is a m5500 and a m5500i right? They are not exactly the same in every aspect.

Yeah, I used to have the m5550 and it's also known as the m5500-r3. Ask the guy who figured out exactly how he did it. Could be a wrong card, since you can't even boot your notebook.

5500i-r3 and 3650 256mb

did you get the ati 3650 512MB to work? i'm just about to order that card but was wondering if the 512MB memory could be an issue. i read in another form suggesting only 256MB. maybe 2.07 bios required to address shadow ram on video card but then system limited to 2GB max.

5550i-r3
2.06 bios
