Help! My Sony Vaio Notebook PCG-V505DX (Windows XP Home) gives me an error message that says "operating system not found. " Sony no longer distributes the restore cds. Does anyone have them or know where I can get them! Thanks! Misckay

Hi! Thanks for responding. I have done some research and found a web site called Squangle Ltd.®. They sell a CD which contains all the necessary drivers for my Sony Vaio PCG-V505 :- Driver Recovery CD - Restore Disk. But first must install the Windows CD that you talked about and I don't know where to get one. Do you have any suggestions? Are you familiar with the site I mentioned above?

You don't need to buy anything for Sony drivers and apps. They have them all on their support site, just go there, plug in your model number and go for the download.
Regarding the OS disk, try borrowing it. Or buy something on eBay for cheap and use your COA key for activation as mentioned above.

Is there anywhere that I can download a copy of the Windows OS that I am looking for to CD or DVD on my sons computer? I know that it is the XP home edition but there are so many versions out there. You mentioned the "installation" disc. Could you specify exactly what I should be looking for so that I don't install the wrong thing? I am completely broke so I was thinking of looking at the library? I think that my system crashed because I was trying to print coupons! Thanks so much for your help... You have been great! Misckay
