Acer 5741 dissasemble guide/service guide

hello boys and girls. ive recently purchased a acer 5741-5302 laptop, but unfortunatly my pch and cpu temps are nowhere near my confort zone. so i started looking at reaching the cpu and southbridge to slap some good thermal paste on, and thats when the whole thing started, i just cant find a way to reach it, no underneath door, cant even see a way of removing the keyboard to reach eventually from there. this is not the first laptop im tearing apart but this one just stunned me and after long working hours on the laptop and searching hours and comparing with other guides on this beautiful forum, decided to seek for help because ive had it.

thank you very much.

Have you taken a look into our sticky here in the ACER section?

cheers ...

I have no idea how the Acer numbering system works and therefore cant suggest which model may be closest to yours, but check the sticky posts on the main page....Acer disassembly instructions

as i did mention ive searched long, but didnt see anything close to this.

here are pictures of it

none of the covers can be removed separately to remove the keyboard to access the 2 screws in the middle under the keyboard, it comes off as one piece (at least thats what i think when i took it apart)

the plastic trim comes off as one piece but i cant seem to take it off.

underneath

brief hints of what needs to be done but unfortunatly poster didnt say how he did it

any help is appreciated

ok ive found a way to remove to remove the stupid keyboard, very easy just push the small clips and apply small pressure it pops right up.

clips, theres four on top, 2 on the sides

MB

Chip with some nasty 10year old paste (surprisingly 2 dies, i gues one the gpu)

Heatsink

overall its a easy process if you know where to start. my temps are about the same on regular usage, but dropped by much in full load. the chipset heatsink is bad, no screws to push it on the die,the only screws helping are the ones on cpu. therefore bad contact, i bent it a bit to push on the die to make proper contact. (not doing this will for sure burn the board in a couple of years with original plastic paste(?) and barely touching the chipset,in my experience)
Now the only thing left is to figure out a way to set the fan at a constant speed, the on off each 30sec is driving me crazy, im running win7 hp 64bit is anyone knows a way.

Nice pics. for sharing. Give NHC (Notebook Hardware Control) utility a shot for fan control.

no problem, hopefully it can helpsomeone else.

nh doest work on any 64bit os as far as i know. so yeah the fan is really annoying, do you know anything else that might work?

Last I checked NHC does work with 64bits. Check it again. RM Clock is still having issue with 64bits as I experience.

i would really to see a screenshot of that running on win7 64bit. i wasnt able to make it run. it not only seems to lack drivers for 64bit but also win7 digital driver signing is blocking it
post #10 of 17
Yep - that Windows Digital Driver enforcement is a pain for 64 bit. One can bypass it but it is not fun.

If anyone still interested, here's Acer Aspire 5741 and 5741G laptop disassembly guide.

It shows how to remove the motherboard and access the cooling module.

we (really) need Michelle back in to help out with the Gateway NV55S thread for a keyboard removal. I am looking for a comparable ACER model to this Gateway machine, if you gents could come up with something it would be great
