Faster netbooks?

Thread Starter
I read an article a while back that faster (dual proc?) netbooks are coming. Are they out yet? I think the current netbooks are too slow for win7

Too slow for Windows 7? My old M6805 and MSI 12" runs faster on Windows 7 than when on Windows XP.

Who needs windows... Try linux on a netbook and you will notice a BIG difference in speed of booting up, shutting down and opening/closing applications... I don't use windows on netbooks any more, it is just to slow... And yes, I know the vast majority of users are windows orientated, but an open mind in giving something new a try is always worth the effort...

The only time I use Linux at the moment is at work. At home is mostly Apple and Windows.

Interesting about the Linux on netbook Mr T. Want to write up a small personal guide as how to tackle this? We have some members here in private section wanting to try it out but not knowing quite as how to proceed.

I was never a fan if linux until my main system decided to hose my XP partition, so a clean reinstall on a new drive and the usual M$ activation had to be done... After 15 minutes on the phone to an M$ call centre in India inputting numbers to reactivate, I thought, I have had enough of this activation malarky... So, I thought I would give Ubuntu a try, haven't looked back since... Yes it can be a bit buggy and annoying, but so is windows... Yes it can be difficult to navigate around, but then again, XP to Vista caused a few headaches... Yes, not all is done for you like in windows, but there is a whole host of resources online for any issues... And whats more linux is free... I use windows so rarely these days, I sometimes forget my way about it.... But that is me...

As for linux on netbooks... Xandros was a revelation on the EeePC... From boot to online in 45 seconds... Ubuntu Netbook Remix, fits most netbooks with a simple interface and excellent hardware support... And there are others, all free and all well supported...

What I think a lot of people forget is a netbook is just that, for net surfing and light work, so in essence keep it simple... If you want more, get a laptop...
