Samsung NC-10 Mods?

Thread Starter
I have a Samsung NC-10 netbook for when I travel for work.

I upgraded it to 2 GB of OCZ memory, which is the max.

My question is, is there any other hardware mods I can make to it to increase the speed of it?

Not so much I am afraid with netbook - software tweaking is your best bet I believe.

cheers ...

Make sure your RAM is DDR2-800... You can upgrade the hard drive to a 7200rpm one, it does involve completely disassembling the netbook... And I got rid of windows and stuck Ubuntu Netbook Remix on it and that gave me quite a markable speed increase, from booting up to getting online... (I have a faulty stick of DDR2-800 in it that windows cannot work with, but linux has built in code that works round the faulty sectors)... (And you can try Ubuntu by running it from a USB drive or installing it in a windows folder using the wubi install method)...

I do have some OCZ DDR2-800 in already.

What if I stick an SSD in it?

Do you think is will add much to the speed?

Yes , but it wouldn't be the huge increase you would expect... It is still more economically viable to put a 7200rpm drive in...

On a software front, it is worthwhile ditching windows and using a linux netbook distribution... That does speed things up....
