Portege R700 i3 or i5 cpu?

Thread Starter
Hi everyone.

Here in Australia, the price difference for the above model (identical except for i3 or i5 cpu) is about AUD300 (about usd250).

Is the i5 worth the extra dosh over the i3?

I can see an i5 might have better longterm value but other wear and tear items will play a bigger part in the laptop in 3-4 years time.

Will i5 have better performance than i3 now?

Thanks for any thoughts.

i3 is akin to old celeron cpu...for the extra bucks, I would say it is worth it if you are keeping it for a while or do more than just basic surfing

And remember that turbo boost is only operational in i5 and i7, granting better performance and energy eficient use. I would go for the i5, as a matter of fact I am awaiting my Portege R700-S1320 to arrive by January... my Christmas gift will be brought by three wise men coming from the east... jojojojo. Merry Christmas to you all!
