Looking for a internal bluray player for my Gateway FX P-7801U.
I looked on the internet but one site said i needed a SATA player if i have a 7805 and up, but didn't mention 7801u.

Take a look at the P-68xx threads. Some members here installed blu-ray into their systems. A few recommendation there.

You will need a SATA drive, very easy swap.

Can anyone suggest a compatible SATA drive for the Bluray swap, preferably just a sway without any software doodling.

the model ghn mentioned has worked in my 7811 for well over a year now, some of the actual burners are not that badly priced now either something like http://www.ebay.com/itm/Slim-Laptop-Panasonic-Blu-ray-Burner-DVDRW-Drive-UJ-240-/370530456321?pt=PCC_Drives_Storage_Internal&hash=item5645561301or one of the 260's. I do remember in the earlier days there were alot of different firmwares on the ct-10n and and it was a crapshoot as to which firmware ver one was getting. Some of them would not work without anydvd running in the background. Ebay is going to be your best bet.

Also a very easy swap, probably the hardest part is installing the faceplate as the little locking tabs van break easily.
