HP NX7000 Black Screen issue

Hi all I have a HP NX7000 and it has a problem in that the laptop starts up and runs fine but the screen goes blank. If I plug in an auxiliary screen it works fine all day long without fault. The strange thing is if I press the lid switch it flickers the screen on and I can see whats on there but is only on for 1 second then goes blank again.
I have replaced the invertor and the wiring and that solved nothing. Can anyone help with what it might be please?

What happens if you point a flash light onto the screen?

OK tried the flash light/torch trick and I can see the screen has all the windows desktop on there.

Back-light is going the way side. You can try replacing it (them) or get another LCD.
