Compaq Presario 2200 Wireless

Hello..I am looking for some troubleshooting advice for the above notebook. I formatted and installed XP pro(formerly was XP Home). This is my daughters notebook and she has lost the disks that came with the laptop, however I found all the drivers online(well..I believe I have). It works fine except for wireless connection. The icon states it is connected,( states signal is good, connected at 1.0 -I cant remember if it is mbps, or mbs etc...) and on the list of available wireless networks, it shows it is connected to mine. However, I cannot access any web pages. It connects fine with a ethernet cable,(I can access web pages etc) just the wireless is a bit odd.
Any help appreciated
