Netbook shutting down automatically

I've had my Acer Netbook for 10 months. Worked great, held a charge for 4-5 hours, no problems. Now, all of a sudden, it's just shutting down after a minute or two for no reason. It will boot up again right away but shut down in another minute or two.

The battery says it's fully charged. In the past when I've had a battery go bad, it slowly looses power over time. In this case, the battery has given no signs of reduced charge time so I don't know if the battery has just gone bad or not. It must be something to do with the battery though as there is no problem with shutting down when it's on AC power.

Suggestions?

Does it give all the indications of a low powered battery before shutting off, ie the beep warning, or is it just instantaneous? If it goes that quick with no warning, the battery is dead and you'll need a new one... If there is a beep warning, try discharging the battery fuuly then charging it up again (you may find it worthwhile, if you can, to borrow a similar machine off someone to test this and avoid splashing out on a new battery)...

Well, I think I figured out the problem. My wife admitted to me today that the battery became disconnected from the computer last week and fell on the ground. She then tried putting it back on herself. I go and give a close look at the contacts and find a couple of the contacts were bent, even though the battery was connected. I straightened the contacts and for the last hour, all is well. Thanks for your response though.

Cool, nice simple fix... I wish my children were as honest...
