ASUS G73JW-A1 AC Adapter Cord

Can anyone tell me how long the cord is from the AC transformer to the laptop is. I have seen some of these types of laptops with shorter cords from the transformer to the computer with the expectation that the transformer would be on the table the laptop is on, but I have to use the laptop in a chair with a lap desk frequently, so the I need the transformer on the floow with enough length to use in the chair easily.

Short is around 42 inches and normal is around 68 inches.

That's about normal for nowadays adapter cords. How about just a longer power cord from the wall socket to the adapter?

cheers ...

What is normal? 68 inches (what normal laptops have) works for me. 42 inches (the length a lot of these desktop replacements with desktop chips generally have) is too short for me because of where I need to use the unit from.

As I said, I cannot have the transformer on my lap desk, so an extension cord (wall to transformer) is not the answer for me.

I measured the ones I have here, and they are all around 150cm (68" sound right)

cheers ...

And you have an ASUS G73JW-A1, correct? That is what your measuring? I see Macbook in your signature, so I'm not certain we've had a meeting of the minds

We have a few ASUS machines here (G50, Z83V, Z53) - I hope that ASUS just doesn't go around and change adapter cord length just for fun

And if I put all my machines in the sig, I would have no place left

Would it be better if the ac adapter is next to the lap desk or moving in the same direction of the chair, leaving the power card dragging on the floor? If it gets caught or yanked on, it it best that it is being pulled from the adapter connector instead of the stress being put on the power jack of the notebook

cheers ...

They might if the power requirements of the units is different. The Sager 7280 (Clevo 7200) has a huge AC transformer and a shorter cord from the transformer to the laptop than any of the other model.

The same thing is true for several other machines I have looked at. Mostly the laptops with desktop processors, but the more power it draws the more likely it is to be the case.

If you have not measured this unit, I do not have the answer yet.

Like I said, it is huge. It won't fit. I have made pig tails before. A short extension who's purpose is to separate first. Really though I just want to confirm how long the cord is on the AC transformer for this unit.
