Hitachi has unveiled a new 2.5-inch hard drives that uses 2 x 375 GB plates.
- 5K750 at 5400rpm
- 7K750 at 7200rpm (with hardware-based encryption)
Both support HDD Serial ATA 3 GB/s, the first has 8 MB of cache, while the second 16 MB. TrueTrack technology is being included, which guarantees perfect operation in an environment where high shock and vibration are present.
These drives are the first to use the Advanced Format (with sectors of 4096 KB).
The Travelstar 5K750 is expected sometime in 11-2010 with a MSRP of $ 129.99 (€ 109.99 including VAT). The Travelstar 7K750 will not be made available until Q1-2011.
