Wrong BIOS

Hey folks

I have an Acer Aspire 5720Z....Last night I updated the BIOS, unfortunately I installed the wrong Bios, and now it won't recognise the hard drive so Windows won't boot.

Is there a way that I can install the old BIOS outside of windows ? I no longer have the original install disc, but I have downloaded the old bios from Acer.

Any help will be much appreciated

Thanks....klyve

The only remedy that I am aware of is sending it to Acer to have the initial BIOS flashed...a proof of ownership is also required

Check the BIOS settings to make sure the drive is present there and is in the boot queue - if so, you may need to set the BIOS to IDE mode from AHCI so windows can boot... Another thing to do is to remove AC power and the battery, press and hold the power on button down for 30 seconds.. Plug AC back in and see if you get into windows...

If you need to flash back to the old bios go to bootdisk and create a CD with your BIOS exe file and the BIOS file on it... You should be able to boot from that and recover the old BIOS...
