M45 S269 Recovery Issues

I tried to run a recovery and it stopped midway. Ever since I have tried over and over to recover my laptop but with no success. No matter what I do, I get this screen:

We apologize to this inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.

If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shut down to protect your files and folders, choose Last Known Good Configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked.

If a previous startup attempt was interrupted due to a power failure or because the Power or Reset button was pressed, or if you aren't sure what caused the problem, choose Start Windows Normally.
Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)

Start Windows Normally

Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice.
Seconds until Windows starts: 0

The laptop always goes back to this screen. Any Ideas?

just to clarify...what are you trying to do...system restore....going back to a previous restore point....or, a complete system recovery using recovery discs that you made or was shipped with computer, or by using the recovery partition on the laptop

About a month ago, I attempted a system restore. The process failed right in the middle of the restore. I ordered new recovery discs and have been trying to get anything going. I was able to bring up my destop once but when I rebooted it came back with the same message. I am trying to do all of the above. Anything!!!!!

Did you lose power part way thru the recovery...ie was it plugged in or just on battery...I am also starting to believe that your harddrive might be failing and that is why it wont go any further..

No I didn't have a power failure. the recovery disc just stopped and rebooted right in the middle of the recovery. By using another disc that will boot off of the CD, I am able to view all the files on my hard drive. So that means that maybe the hard drive is ok. I don't have anything important to save on the laptop.

Try this, sometimes it will clear up bad spots on the CD/DVD....try burning a copy of the CD/DVD and use that.....sometimes just a very good cleaning of the CD/DVD makes a big diff

M45 5269 recovery issues

I ended up buying a new hard drive. That fixed everything. My son-in-law installed it and said that Toshiba uses cheap hard drives. He put in a Western Digital.

Glad it worked out
