AS7552G-6061 - 2nd internal drive?

Does the AS7552G-6061 have an internal bay for a second hard drive? I can find no mention of one in any Acer documentation or elsewhere. Hard to believe a 17" display notebook doesn't have one...

Not any 17" notebooks would have 2nd bay drive Disappointing, but not surprising.

cheers ...

Thanks for the reply.

Coming from hp's, where 2nd drive bays are common on the 17" models, I do find it surprising Acer doesn't offer any! Too bad, I was ready to spring for an Acer otherwise...

it does have a second drive bay

Opened it up and it does have a second sata drive bay.
Now I need to figure out how to get the drive cradle that holds the drive so that the sata connectors line up. In addition to the screws to hold the drive to the cradle there is a single screw to hold the cradle in place once the drive is seated into the SATA connectors.

The machine is my son's. I'm ordering one for work to load linux. I'll eventually have enough parts to test putting two drives in the linux box to make sure both drives appear in the device list.

Only 4 screws and some clips on the bottom panel under the font and you can see both drive bays, all 3 memory cards (all removable/upgradeable), and the wifi card. Nice layout.

Took the cover off and removed the drive to check the cradle out. Put it back together and it runs fine.

Cheers, DRHO

Same model as OP? Would you share with us some pics? It's great new if it works.

Caddy is available.

After further research, I've confirmed this model Acer (AS7552G-6061) does have the 2nd drive bay, and a caddy is available (about $20), part number 42.PZS01.005.

Now if I could just justify spending the $750 when my current laptop works and is fast enough for everything other than the video work I'd like to do on it...

Thanks for finding the part number. Acer wasn't very friendly when I asked through their tech site.

That is the correct part. Looks exactly like the caddy I checked yeasterday
