I have had a few extra batteries for ye olde Inspiron 9400 for a couple years. I try to keep them charged. Once the test lights on the battery go down to 3 leds, I recharge them.
Just tried to recharge one of them, and the 9400 started giving blink codes: Three short orange, one longer green. I suspect this is a battery problem signal. Sure enough, taking the battery out and pressing the test button lights up only LEDs 1, 3 and 5 instead of all five.
So I tried a second battery. Same thing! You wouldn't think it likely that they would fail at the same time.
I do have a third battery, but I'm hesitant to try it, just in case this is a problem with the computer's charging circuitry screwing up the batteries.
Has anyone seen this before?
