hp nc6400, rebooting problem

hi all,
i have a problem that the notebook keep rebooting to the 'f8 screen'; i tried many option like safe mode or normal boot, it keeps loop back to reboot and f8 screen.
is there anyway to get thru this, at least i want to save the data inside.
try hp forum, they r useless; not even try to understand what i said..

Stick in a Windows disk and see if you can run a system repair from there. This way the data will still be intact.

If not, I would take the drive out, sticking it in an external USB housing and try saving the data. Then put it back and perform a clean installation and see if the problem is being addressed.
