Remote and iXPS IR sensor

I have the remote and the media experience. It came with a usb sensor that I can plug in and I am able to use the remote correctly with it. But it does not seem to work with the built-in IR sensor on the front of the iXPS right below the lid latch. I thought the whole point of that was to work with the remote. Do I need to turn the sensor on using a control panel?

Mine worked fine right out of the box and has ever since, did you reformat your hard drive or something that changed since original config?

re

No, it is the standard setup. I tried the remote and it wouldn't work. I plugged in the USB adapter and it worked. Then I unhooked the USB adapter and it stopped working. I removed the clear plastic film, so that is not the problem.

i think its disabled in the bios when you reboot hit F2 and use the alt P to find the page with the IR

HS,

You have to use the dongle with the remote. The IR window in the front of the computer is for FIR only (computer data). It is completely different from consumer IR frequencies that remotes operate on.

Hmmm

Well we seem to have some conflicting stories here. One says it worked right out of the box and one says it can nvr work. Confused?

Did you check if your built-in IR port works with other devices (printers, notebooks)?
