The problem is when i go to press the power button the light changes from green to flashing orange. Now i understand this is an error code and i believe it reads as 11011101 but where do i go from there, i believe i need a 2 digit number from that code.

nah nothing comes on when i plug the laptop in except a green light but when i goto press the power button the power led turns to flashing orange.

I am just trying to find out what code the orange blinking represents.

It happens regardless whether the battery is in or not, i tried the 30sec reset method but to no avail, not really sure what to do next really

I would try removing CMOS battery and re-seating it next.

Just curious, is the a/c adapter the original adapter that came with it or is it from another laptop. I have read that incorrect voltages and amperages from non-original or substitute power supplies could cause blinking orange led power light

After a very lengthy post on there, one individual shows how to convert....bottom line is it probably a power cckt on the motherboard which will require replacement...seems to be the general consensus on there

I have decided to change the motherboard now when i plug in the power lead i get the green light and when i press the power button on the laptop the hard drive starts to boot up but the cpu fan doesnt start and theres no display on the screen. Any idea whats causing this?

PS I have tested the CPU fan and that appears to be working.
