The M11x has well documented issues with hinge failure (I know cos well mine have failed) Dell has now acknowledged this issue and they are replacing the screens (the screen with hinges attached is one item).

My understanding is they will replace regardless on the current status of our warranty - however I still have mine on order for over 3 months and am still waiting..........

PS - I suspect the reason there are few M11x posts on this forum is purely a perceived lack of interest in the M11x by this forum.

Or simply that m11X users choose not to post winknudge.gif

As a side note the new screen with hinge attachment arrived today - have fitted it already seems OK but hard to tell at least I can open and close it again!!!

I never had an issue with my M1X. The hinges are perfect, the screen is good, etc, and I 've now had it for over a year. smile.gif

Here is a utube link showing the problem

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ok7XP_nwFmA

The hinge has actually failed on this unit, the cause is there are 3 screws holding the hinge to the back of the screen the metal threads are pressed into plastic supports with the twisting of the lid these screws come out of the supports and then work away at the support totally stuffing them. Dell have admitted they have a problem and have redesigned the screen (it's sold as one unit with the hinges attached) this redesigned screen is now in the market, I have a corrected screen with the new hinge design.
