T60p Overhearting Issue

Thread Starter
I have a t60p that is overheating when run in hot environments or has a load put on it such as a some what intense program. I replaced the entire heat sink, after cleaning the old one had no result. New thermal compound pads with the new heat sink, still over heating... replaced the heat sink compound pads with good heat sink compound no fix. So i know that thermal resistance to the room air is not the issue, im thinking its the video card because when i run a Kicad, a free PCB layout software it when lock up and the display will go black, or grey, with lines and then nothing. Have to shut the computer down and reboot. Any Suggestions? I did replace the LCD but dnt think that would be the issue because it is an exact replacement, but was bought off of ebay...

System INFO:
Core 2 Duo T7400 2.16 GHZ
2gb Ram
high performance ATI video card
Original the the system, not added after.

If you are using it only your lap or another soft surface, you are blocking the vents, causing overheating...they need to be on a hardsurface to let the air flow

It will overheat worse on my lap, but i ahve also tried it on a flat glass desk, that glass is cool to the touch and it provides plenty of room underneath for the computer to breath.

How hot is it exactly when you are under load or at idle (CPU and GPU)?
