M17x R3 ??? - Page 3

The R3 is up on Alienware.com Base price is $1499. No crossfire or SLI option.

Yes it up now. Guys don't forget that dell is offering rgbled 1080p screens for their precision line. The way this is going makes me wanna go back to the precision line. Atleast you know you can always have the option of having rgbled. But the price of this machine is pretty good but the graphics options are pretty bad and from what I am reading the 6870 is pretty much a 5850. Well I would advise to wait on more options soon. I do agree and hope that we can have better xfire or sli with this newest revision. I can't wait to see its insides lol. The m15x and the m17x both have very good quality calm down joker lol. But yes if you drop the m15x very hard it will basically crumble lol.

Anything would crumble if you drop it very hard May be not the ToughBook

Hey man what's up how are you doing? They will offer rgbled soon enough and it's still way better than the Asus G73JH i don't think i will never buy Asus ever again i have had enough lol. I like the direction dell is finally taking alienware been waiting for this a long time but i got my eyes set on the R3 it's a good deal for me i always been a one gpu guy lol i just hope they offer an gtx 560 or a 485 a very powerful single graphics card to be on par with Asus marketing and also the M18x like they did in the old days with the M17 and M17x legacy machines.

I checked out the R3's tech manual from Dell's support website and there is only room on the system for two fans. One for the CPU and one for the video card.So obliviously a single video card system..Seems like Dell sacrificed the second card to come out with a notebook system they can claim is the first notebook with 3D gaming capability?

Very feasible here

Still they could have made a new line for that one, and kept the M17 line as the dual GPU laptop line, the R3 should have been what the rumored R18 is

I have to agree Dave that the r3 should have been what the supposed M18X is.

I been thinking about it as well

Funny I was checking notebookcheck for the GPU benchmarks and they rank the GTX460M GPU = to SLi 280M GPU's

I'm still not sure about the r3: the plus side to it is the Sandy Bridge processor, but to drop the SLI is something they should have kept...

Yeah, Thus the rumour that a R18 is comming out with the Dual GPU options.

If this R3 had a 470 or 480 GPU option i would get it for sure

Even still if the 460M does perform on the same scale of my 280 SLI config I would consider it.

It it had the RGB LED option I would definitely get it

IMO, dual GPU cause more issues than it helps. That's the main reason why I've returned or sold my past M17x systems.

I like dual GPU systems for benchmarking, not everyday use.

Yes I've heard about the SLI issues however until the M18x can be confirmed (officially by a credible source) I feel that the M17x is the ' flagship' model and should be better appointed.

NWGuru has a point he is right about that. I have a M17x and it's really been giving me a lot of problems, i am going to order one soon enough too i am really excited about this, going back to my precision days again. As long as it has a good WLED screen then i am happy but i prefer rgbled all the way anyway that's why im getting myself a precision m4600 in the next few months. Yes SLI GTX 460's and Cross-Fire 6970's are due for the M18x and a special screen also, the rumored M18x finally coming out took long enough lol. I am also always interested in Shiny New Toys, NWGuru you so review that thing before i get it probably buy it off you if you sell it lol nah i don't think you will. I do agree dual graphics cards are good for benchmarking from time to time but it's all up to choice. I wish they kept the M17 form factor and concept as they are basically doing now but it should of been done before. What do you guys think the build quality be?

lol, my M15x will end up going on sale assuming the M17xR3 is not a total flop. Take a look at the performance options in the bios of the R3. Cool stuff.
