dead satellite

Thread Starter
I was using my satellite yesterday morning and it died on me. I don't remember the model - i am in an internet cafe now to access the web - but it has a 15" screen, amd dual core cpu 2.4 ghz I think. When I turn it on I get no video or sound at all. The fan turns on and the dvd can be opened but that is the only clue. I will take it to a shop this weekend but I would like to know as much as I can to prevent me from getting ripped. I bought it 15 months ago
If the mobo is dead, is it possible (practical) to replace it with a mobo that will support a quad core?

Do the cold reset first (remove battery, hold down the power button for 30-40secs, remove and re-seat ram and drive) - try again.

cheers ...

If you had an L500 and a submodel L500 had a quad core then a mobo swap would be possible...other than that your out of luck and chances that your mobo with a dual core accepting a quad core is pretty much impossible
