I have followed instructions given here for replacing the hard drive (original Seagate 120GB 5400rpm) and also new memory (2 sticks of 1GB ea) and all seemed to go well until the first reboot of Win7 install - after that the screen went dead!
I rebooted and ... nothing. I took out the new hd and replaced it with the original and... nothing!
I have the original nVidia GeForce 7200 and the modded drivers to make it work with Win7 (worked fine before this surgery gone awry).
Specifically:
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 [Display adapter]
NVIDIA t Flat Panel [Monitor] (14.9"vis, November 2002)
SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC
What to do? What would make the screen go dead during an install of Win7 and it not come back to life with the old hd with the drivers?
There were zero issues with the screen/display before this. So I thought perhaps I got a little overzealous with the compressed air when it was all taken apart, but that can't be it b/c the screen was fine during the initial 2 phases of loading a fresh Win7 onto the new hd.
Also, I can turn it on and hear it accessing the win7 disk in the dvd drive, but it spontaneously shuts off after about 10 minutes or so. It's not hot and I also have a Notepal cooling fan attached via usb, so that is not the issue.
I don't want to have to buy a new video card... so perhaps there is something I can check, some way to bring it back to life? Someone please help, I'm at a total loss here.
Pulling my hair out over here...
