Studio XPS 16 firewire

Thread Starter
Hi, can any Studio XPS 16 owners do me a quick favour please?

Right-click "My Computer" followed by "Properties", then "Device Manager" on the left hand side. From the device list click "IEEE 1394 Bus Host Controllers" and tell me the name of the firewire device (chipset) that's installed.

Example (from my desktop PC, I don't have a Studio XPS yet):

(In the above example, the firewire chipset is "Texas Instruments".)

Could you also tell me which Studio XPS 16 model you have please (version 1640, 1645, or 1647)?

Thanks ever so much.

Do you have an issue with this device under Windows 7? I had to revert to standard driver since it would drag Explorer down to its knees.

cheers ...

I honestly could not tell you, I most just use my eSATA connection which I am in love with.
